Everton are keen to bring in Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga on loan for the rest of the season, but may have to sell players before they can even agree a short-term deal.
Toffees manager Frank Lampard is desperate to add more attacking threat to his team, having watched his side score just 14 goals in their 18 Premier League games so far this season.
Money is reasonably tight at Goodison Park, though, and the Daily Mail report that sales may have to happen before Everton can sign any new players.
The report names Abdoulaye Doucoure, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Jean-Philippe Gbamin as possible outgoings, with the likes of Keane, Holgate and Mina all falling down the pecking order since the arrival of Lampard.
Despite sitting 18th in the Premier League, Everton’s defence as not been that bad, conceding fewer goals than the likes of Tottenham, Fulham, Brighton and Brentford who are all in the top half of the division.
Lampard would be happy to let the fringe defenders go and replace them players who can bring a more potent attacking threat.

Elanga has been involved this season with Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, but is certainly not a regular in the starting XI.
The 20-year-old has made 13 Premier League appearances, with five of those coming from the start, but he is yet to score a goal so far this campaign.
Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Antony appear to be Ten Hag’s preferred front three, with Alejandro Garnacho also impressing and Jadon Sancho hoping to return to the first team fold after a period of struggle.
Elanga is still very much in contention, but will feel he has a better chance of regular Premier League action at Goodison Park than Old Trafford.
