The Daily Mirror says England and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is to be a guest editor on BBC Radio 4’s current affairs programme Today.

The programme traditionally hands over the reins to high-profile public figures during the week after Christmas.

The line-up also has General Sir Nick Carter, the outgoing chief of the defence staff, anthropologist Dr Jane Goodall and Jacky Wright, Microsoft chief digital officer.

Owenna Griffiths, editor of Today, said: “I’m thrilled these guest editors have agreed to spend some time with us to help illuminate and make sense of the world we live in.”
