Mary is shocked when Faye blackmails her (Picture: ITV)
Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) is set to face yet another challenge in upcoming Emmerdale scenes as she is blackmailed by former partner Faye.
Mary was left devastated when it turned out that Faye was actually a con-artist, who planned to steal her money and run.
During their final confrontation, Faye pushed Mary, who in turn banged her head and fell unconscious, which is where Faye left her.
Though she was soon arrested, Faye denied all charges, which actress Louise Jameson revealed Mary had ‘very mixed reactions’ to.
‘She was delighted that she’d been arrested. She was terrified of appearing in court. She really doesn’t want to be cross-examined because you hear it from women all the time how invasive they find being cross-questioned. And Faye’s putting her in that position, so it’s yet another assault, really.’

In upcoming scenes, Mary will be surprised when Faye gets back in contact with her, despite everything she has already put her through.
When Mary doesn’t fall for her sob story, Faye turns to blackmail, revealing that she plans to spread nude photos of Mary unless she changes her witness statement.
‘Mary is just so worried about this because of her lack of confidence,’ Louise revealed.
‘She’s just so worried about being laughed at, you know? I think women in their 70s having a sex life is a very delicate conversation to have anyway, let alone when that woman has recently come out as a lesbian.

‘The tittle-tattle and the fear about what people will think about you… It often fades away as you get older, you stop caring what people think about you, but because Mary’s in such a vulnerable position, I think things have become much more exaggerated.
‘If you’re really confident and a nude picture of you is sent around everywhere it would be like, “oh well that’s a bit embarrassing” but you’re kind of over it. But in Mary’s particular position at the moment it’s deeply wounding.’
Mary is horrified by Faye’s blackmail, and genuinely considers changing her statement.
‘The fear of everybody seeing it makes her want to withdraw the statement,’ Louise explained.
Rhona wants to sort things out (Picture: ITV)
However, Rhona soon catches Faye and Mary talking and is determined to fix the situation herself.
‘Rhona’s all for going to the police. She’s championing her mother. She’s like a lioness – it’s almost like Mary’s become the baby, the child. You’d do anything for your kids, wouldn’t you? Mary so needs protecting at that point, she tries really, really hard to step in.’
The turning point for Mary comes when granddaughter April (Amelia Flanagan) tells her that her truthfulness inspires her.
‘She’s had a career talk and to get the subject off her, Mary asks her how the career talk went.
‘April says she wants to become a journalist because she wants to be like her grandmother, championing freedom and uncovering exploitation and just being a force for good.
‘It kind of quietly shames Mary into thinking, “Yes, that’s the woman I am, really.”‘
As Mary heads to the police station, will she do as Faye wants, or will she tell the police the truth?
