Well, this hasn’t played out how we thought (Pictures: ITV)
We learnt during tonight’s episode of Emmerdale that Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) will face a plea hearing tomorrow.
This comes after he was arrested and charged for the murder of Al (Michael Wildman), who died after a bullet to the chest.
Initially, viewers believed that Cain was trying to cover for himself when he told the detective he turned up at the barn and found Al on the floor but now, many are beginning to wonder if he’s trying to protect a family member.
From failing to actually confirm to Moira (Natalie J Robb) that he did commit the crime, right through to telling Chas (Lucy Pargeter) that her and Al’s burner phones have been hidden from the police, Cain definitely knows what he’s doing – we just don’t know who he’s doing it for.
Tonight, as a stressed Moira tried to keep a handle on the business, village gossip and looking after Kyle and Isaac, Mack (Lawrence Robb) did his very best to help but he struggled in some places, being one of the many who believe Cain is a killer.
On the phone to Moira, Cain revealed that there would be a plea hearing tomorrow and later that day, he had a meeting with his lawyer, who confirmed Cain’s fingerprints had been found on the gun.
Cain’s lawyer was annoyed at the fact he wasn’t really talking, and the look on Cain’s face certainly suggested he is thinking incredibly strategically about what to say next.

With Cain already telling Chas they must keep her affair a secret, the courts may not have enough evidence to have him sent down for murder.
If Cain is protecting someone, does this mean he will plead guilty, so the finger isn’t pointed elsewhere?
The plea hearing will air tomorrow.
