What will they decide? (Picture: ITV)
Since Moira (Natalie J. Robb) and Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) returned from Belfast to Emmerdale with Kyle (Huey Quinn) and Isaac (Bobby Dunsmoir), young Kyle’s behaviour has been giving cause for concern.
With Moira and Amy insisting the best way forward is for life to carry on as normal, they want Kyle to go to school as usual. Matty (Ash Palmisciano), however, has reservations.
The huge secret the family is hiding is, of course, that it was Kyle who pulled the trigger and shot Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) dead – a crime that his father Cain (Jeff Hordley) is determined to take the punishment for to keep his son out of prison.
In coming episodes Matty’s increasingly troubled by Kyle’s behaviour. Ash Palmisciano told us that there’s a huge mental conflict for Matty. ‘He’s so loyal to Moira and Amy. He’s also an honest soul and he likes to tell the truth and he cares about his brother’s feelings and the emotional side of what his brother’s going through,’ he says.

Matty worries that Kyle’s disturbed behaviour means that he needs help, which he won’t get with everyone trying to pretend nothing happened. ‘Any kid that’s showing behaviour like that, it needs to be looked at,’ says Ash. ‘[Matty] tries to help him and talk to the family about it but they don’t want him to go any further with it because of course if he starts talking about his feelings it’s all going to come out.’
As Kyle’s behaviour escalates, Matty comes to the conclusion that the only sensible course of action is to come clean to the police about what happened in the barn on the day Al died – and reluctantly Amy and Moira start to concede that he might be right.
Are they really ready to hand Kyle over to the police?
