Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) is still struggling to come to terms with the fact Rishi (Bhasker Patel) isn’t his biological father in Emmerdale.
While trying to accept that he’s adopted, there’s been one question circling Jai’s head for weeks: If Rishi isn’t his dad, who is?
Jai was given a positive distraction this week when his cousin, Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) arrived. Suni is in the village for Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Jai’s wedding but has taken a liking to Nicky (Lewis Cope) and is also trying to get Rishi to reconnect with his son and build bridges.
That has been a little easier said that done, given that Jai can barely look at Rishi right now, but that hasn’t stopped Suni talking to his uncle about the adoption news.
Which is where we get a little suspicious.
In Wednesday’s (July 12) edition of the ITV soap, Suni was telling Rishi how he thinks HOP has potential to expand into being open in the evenings for young people. Rishi was impressed and commented on how Suni has an entrepreneurial mindset, but something didn’t add up when his scenes in tonight’s episode aired.

While in the pub talking to Nicky, Suni spoke about his dad. He said that he has a great relationship while they’re talking about business, but the dynamic changes when Suni reminds his dad that he’s not interested.

So, was Suni lying to Nicky?
If he isn’t interested in all things business, why was he talking to Rishi about plans for the HOP?
We’ve been suspicious of Suni and how much he knows regarding the adoption ever since Jai told him the secret, but is his real connection to the Sharmas being hidden?
Is Suni actually Jai’s cousin, and does he know who Jai’s dad really is?
