Samson just gets worse (Picture: ITV)
Samson (Sam Hall) has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of raising baby Esther in Emmerdale, but his absolute refusal to accept his responsibilities will lead to a sick and twisted act.
Amelia (Daisy Campbell) is desperate to have Samson in her daughter’s life despite the fact he can’t even bring himself to call the baby ‘her’ instead of ‘it’. She has no idea just how badly he wants Esther out of their lives so that he can return to being a regular teen.
As things start to get tough for new mum Amelia, she has a wobble over her mothering abilities. Dad Dan (Liam Fox) is right there to reassure her that things will get better and that most new mums find it incredibly hard, but anxious Amelia struggles to believe him.
She is in need of a babysitter and Lydia (Karen Blick) has a solution and offers to take charge of the little girl. She has ulterior motives though and uses the opportunity to force a reluctant Samson to spend time with little Esther.
He is not in the mood and Lydia’s plan backfires when instead of finding his fatherly instincts, he approaches Amelia and announces he wants Esther put up for adoption.
Amelia is understandably disgusted at his suggestion, and when she refuses, Samson cruelly reminds her of her previous plans to kill her baby before she was born. Amelia is affronted by this low blow and sends him packing, leaving Samson frustrated that his manipulations haven’t worked.
Noah (Jack Downham) is ever supportive of his new girlfriend and confirms he thinks she’s doing an amazing job. He reveals a little surprise for her – that he’s set up a cot in his room for the baby, and Amelia is over the moon. If only her baby daddy could be so thoughtful.
