Aaron spent time with Faith tonight (Pictures: ITV)
Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) shared some heartfelt scenes with his grandmother Faith (Sally Dexter) in tonight’s Emmerdale, as he opened up about a harrowing episode in his past.
Faith told her grandson that she hates knowing how much her health is deteriorating, especially after recent episodes when she became confused and lashed out at Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Cain (Jeff Hordley). ‘It’s not a very nice feeling knowing that it’s not just your body packing up, but your mind’s playing silly beggars an’ all,’ she said.
This made Aaron recall when he’d helped his boyfriend Jackson Walsh (Marc Silcock) to die after Jackson was disabled in a horrific accident.
Aaron, along with Jackson’s mother Hazel (Pauline Quirke), were later arrested for murder after helping Jackson to end his life. Although they were found not guilty, Aaron was hugely traumatised by the experience.
In tonight’s episode he told Faith it had felt like the worst thing he ever had to do. ‘Watching him die like that, knowing I’d helped him, turns out it was a million times harder.’
Faith reassured him that it had taken ‘incredible courage’ to help Jackson, and it obviously started her thinking about the role she’s asked Moira (Natalie J. Robb) to play in her own death. Would she be leaving Moira with the same pain that Aaron had gone through with Jackson?
Aaron shifted the conversation to happier times, talking about his last trip to Whitby and how Jackson went skydiving. This gave Faith an idea.

Later she told Chas and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) that she wants to go to the seaside. ‘We could call it a last hurrah!’ she said.
‘Couldn’t we just call it a day out?’ Chas replied, as ever not happy with how blunt Faith can be about the fact she’s dying.
Faith is determined to ‘make memories’ for as long as possible and is excited about the trip to the seaside – though it may not be quite what she expects as her health takes a sudden downward turn.
