Emmerdale took a trip down memory lane to briefly revisit the Meena Jutla storyline.
Meena, played by Paige Sandhu, terrorised the residents of the eponymous village over a two-year period, claiming the lives of three characters while attempting to murder various more.
The storyline in question was a contentious one, but one that ensured that Emmerdale was the topic of many a discussion, with the killer’s murder spree making for a number of unmissable and big weeks.
The first of her victims was none other than Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger), who plummeted to her death after Meena pushed her from the village’s bridge on the day of her 18th birthday.
This particular murder was revisited during Thursday’s (May 18) edition of the ITV soap as part of a new storyline that saw Liam (Jonny McPherson), Leanna’s father, reflect on his daughter’s death and the role it had in inspiring the GP to turn mystery writer.
Liam, as viewers know, has been acting shifty in recent episodes, and Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) knew full well that he was up to something.
The nurse made the discovery that Liam has been writing crime stories under the pseudonym of Anna Le Monde, which left her thrilled given that she is also a crime literature enthusiast.

Liam was concerned that people in the village would judge him for it, hence his decision to keep shtum, but Wendy was left seriously impressed, as she quizzed him on what inspired him to pick up the metaphorical pen.
The GP explained that he got into it after Leanna died, revealing that his first story was about a man ‘avenging his daughter’s killing’, making reference to the role he played in getting Meena arrested.
