Strictly Come Dancing bosses are keen to spice things up for next year’s series by inviting a celebrity couple on to compete against one another… which could add a whole new complication to the Strictly curse.
According to insiders, former Big Brother presenter Emma Willis and her husband Matt Willis are top of the list after they were forced to back out this time around due to his commitments to the theatre production, 2:22 A Ghost Story.
‘Strictly are desperate to get a celebrity couple on the show and Emma and Matt were in negotiations for the last series,’ an insider said.
‘Strictly would love to have them back on board for next year’s show and Emma and Matt have said if they can make it work they would jump at the chance.
‘Bosses on the show are always looking at ways to keep the format fresh and they loved the idea of having a celebrity couple competing against one another.’

The source added to The Sun: ‘Matt and Emma are very much in the running but if they can’t make it work, the Strictly booker will be looking at other famous partnerships.’
Television presenter Emma and Busted member Matt married in 2008 after three years of dating.
They share three children together: Isabelle, 13, Ace, 11, and Trixie, six.

Emma has been vocal about her love for Strictly, having told Metro.co.uk earlier this month that she would love to sign up and would never do any of the rival shows, such as Dancing On Ice or I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

‘Strictly… I’m tempted every year, very, very tempted,’ she told us. ‘I watch it every year obsessively, and to be taught by the best to do a skill, why wouldn’t you?
‘I’m not a dancer, I’m just a bit awkward. I kind of pogo up and down. So, to do ballroom… I don’t know. It’s giving me the sweats standing in front of the judges.
‘But I’m at a point where I’m like “f**k it” do the things that scare you.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted Emma and Matt’s rep for comment.
Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return in the autumn to BBC One.
