Elon Musk subpoenas Twitter’s Jack Dorsey ahead of court battle
Telsa boss Elon Musk has launched legal action to summon Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey to appear in court as part of his legal battle with the company.
Musk had planned to buy Twitter, but is now seeking to end his $44bn deal for the company after alleging the firm didn’t provide enough information about the number of fake accounts on the site.
But the social media site is suing Musk to try to force him to buy it.
The case is being held in Delaware, US in October unless the parties can settle it out of court beforehand.
Twitter’s hope is that the judge will order Mr Musk to complete the takeover at the agreed price.
But as part of trial preparations, lawyers for Elon Musk have called on Jack Dorsey, in hope he will support Musk’s argument that the social media company hasn’t been honest about the number of bot accounts.
In July, Musk said he planned to walk away from the deal, with prompted Twitter to sue him. The site has issued its own subpoenas to people who had planned to invest in the deal with Mr Musk.
The company said Musk’s argument that they weren’t honest with him about fake accounts was an excuse to cover buyer’s remorse.
