Elon Musk documents subpoenaed in Jeffrey Epstein lawsuit
Billionaire Elon Musk has been subpoenaed by the US Virgin Islands in a lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase, accusing the bank of facilitating Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking activities. The subpoena seeks any documents showing communication between Musk, JP Morgan Chase, and Epstein, who died in 2019.
Musk is not accused of any wrongdoing in the case. The Virgin Islands government alleges that trafficked women were sexually abused by Epstein and others on his private island, Little St. James. The territory has accused JP Morgan Chase of neglecting warning signs about the crimes.
In response to the lawsuit, a court filing revealed that the Virgin Islands attempted to serve the subpoena to Musk but was unsuccessful. The filing also mentioned that Epstein may have referred Musk to JP Morgan Chase, although the interest in obtaining documents from Musk was not explained. Musk has vehemently denied receiving financial advice from Epstein and referred to the suggestion as “idiotic.”
Epstein, a financier with connections to prominent individuals, including Prince Andrew and former presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, was convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Prosecutors in 2019 accused him of operating a wide-ranging network of underage girls for sexual exploitation. JP Morgan Chase has denied knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
