Kanye West has been suspended from Twitter temporarily, Elon Musk has confirmed.
Earlier this year, the rapper was banned from Twitter and Instagram after violated rules on the social media platforms, having made antisemitic remarks that sparked widespread outrage.
In November, the 45-year-old returned to Twitter around the same time of Musk’s takeover, following the Tesla founder’s acquisition of the site.
In a tweet, Musk, 51, claimed that West’s account was ‘restored by Twitter before the acquisition’, adding: ‘They did not consult with or inform me.’
While the Gold Digger rapper – known as Ye – has been given free rein to tweet since, he’s now been suspended from the platform once again.
In replies to other tweets, Musk explained the reasoning behind the suspension, stating: ‘I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.’

In another tweet, Musk responded to an individual who speculated if West’s suspension came about due to him sharing an ‘unflattering’ picture of the Twitter CEO.
‘Just clarifying that his account is being suspended for incitement to violence, not an unflattering pic of me being hosed by Ari,’ he said.
‘Frankly, I found those pics to be helpful motivation to lose weight!’

In the replies to Musk’s tweets, it was claimed by several people that West shared a picture of a Star of David, also known as a Magen David, which is a symbol of Judaism, merged with a swastika.
While a swastika is an ancient religious and cultural symbol, it was appropriated by the Nazi Party and so is strongly associated with antisemitism.
During a recent interview, West praised Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler, leading to further condemnation.
Following his suspension from Twitter, West reportedly turned to Truth Social – a social media platform created by former US president Donald Trump – to confirm he had been locked out of his account for 12 hours.
It was also revealed that the Yeezy founder is no longer buying social media platform Parler, with the app releasing a statement on Twitter that read: ‘In response to numerous media inquiries, Parlement Technologies would like to confirm that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler.
‘This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November.
‘Parler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community.’
