Elaine Paige was doing everything in her power to keep schtum over her rumoured casting on this year’s The Masked Singer.
Joel Dommett returned to present the wild and wacky series, with judges Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Davina McCall doing their best to work out who’s under the mask.
Several names have been thrown into the mix as possible candidates for Knitting, including Steps singer Claire Richards and musical theatre performer Samantha Barks.
However, fans have also pointed fingers to the Memory hitmaker as one the clues suggest the individual is a ‘trained professional singer.’
During Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garrway couldn’t help but ask whether Elaine was involved in the programme.
When asked if the rumours were true, she replied: ‘Well I can’t can I? We don’t want to give the game away.’

Nuff said!
Well, whoever is donning the Knitting costume must have super strength because costume designer Tim Simpson recently told Metro.co.uk that the outfit is the heaviest costume this year.
‘It’s probably bordering on about 20 kilos. It’s a heavy thing,’ he shared. ‘I think Knitting was the heaviest.’
What’s more, the amount of wool used to bring the costume to life was ‘just shy of 350 metres’.

He added: ‘Knitting was a casual suggestion by my partner Sarah – business partner and life partner. I think it was over a glass of wine, she said, “Why don’t we do a Knitting?” I was like, “What do you mean, a Knitting, just a bundle of wool?”’
‘I sort of sat down and doodled something up and went, “What, like this?” and she went, “Yep, go on, send it off.” So I then sent off that sketch to the producers, and I think Knitting’s fabulous. It’s really heavy.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV, and The Masked Singer returns on Saturday at 7pm.
