Ed Sheeran has revealed some quirky plans for one of his future albums which will be a life-long project.
Instead of reaping the benefits of this mysterious ‘quote-unquote “perfect”‘ album, the 32-year-old acoustic megastar has said he will work on it for the ‘rest of [his] life’ and it will be released after he dies.
The star revealed he has five more albums in mind which will be named after another category of symbols following the release of his new album, – (pronounced Subtract), on May 5.
The last in the series will be the mysterious post-Ed Sheeran album, and the star explained he is going to keep working on it for the rest of his life ‘adding songs here and there’.
Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone, the Shape Of You hitmaker said: ‘I want to slowly make this album that is quote-unquote “perfect” for the rest of my life, adding songs here and there, and just have it in my will that after I die, it comes out.’
This comes as the musician also opened up about his various struggles over the past few years, which include the death of his two friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne.

The A Team singer also said he felt like he ‘didn’t want to live any more’ following these two heartaches alongside discovering his pregnant wife had a tumour which couldn’t be treated until after the birth.
Luckily Ed’s wife Cherry Seaborn gave birth to their daughter Jupiter and had successful surgery in June, but he recalled feeling ‘so powerless’ at the time of the diagnosis.
Shortly after this Edwards, who is one of Ed’s ‘best friends’ and helped launch his music career, died in February 2022 at the age of 31.
The night before, Ed recalled how while enjoying a meal out with Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn he was texting Edwards to organise a video shoot for the morning.
‘Twelve hours later, he was dead,’ explained Ed.
‘I felt like I didn’t want to live any more. And I have had that throughout my life.’
‘You’re under the waves drowning. You’re just sort of in this thing. And you can’t get out of it. I’ve always had real lows in my life. But it wasn’t really till last year that I actually addressed it.’
This comes as it was announced Ed would be releasing a four-part TV series about his life called The Sum Of It All, which will be available to stream from May 3 on Disney+.
