British travellers faced chaos on Monday morning as hundreds of easter flights are cancelled by EasyJet and British airways.
More than 120 flights were cancelled this morning with more cancellations to follow as airlines are trying to cut costs by cancelling vacant flights.
Additionally, further delays have been announced on the EuroTunnel at the same time, causing misery for travellers rushing away for the first time in 2 years for Easter.
WTX News reporters drove past the buildup of traffic at the Eurotunnel in Calais and parked lorries had already started building up on the M20 since last night.
The motorway services on the M20 were also overrun with travellers, hoping to rest somewhere warm until the congestion slowed down.
Easter flights are cancelled by EasyJet
Easyjet and British Airways blamed staff absences from Covid for the easter flight cancellations, while Eurotunnel said a broken down train caused delays.
EasyJet, one of Europe’s biggest budget airlines, said 62 flights are from the UK out of the 120 easter flights are cancelled by EasyJet.
Easter marks the first school holidays since the start of the pandemic and the end of travel restrictions.
That’s led to rising demand and frustration for holidaymakers, and budget airline companies are not willing to increase the salaries of their staff, a factor of Brexit.
