Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and ex-mother-in-law Shirley (Linda Henry) broke down in tears in EastEnders as they struggled to come to terms with the loss of their beloved Mick (Danny Dyer).
Mick vanished at sea during explosive Christmas Day scenes, after the truth about his new wife Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) – and the hell she’d put Linda through – was exposed over the festive lunch.
Janine hightailed it out there, refusing to face justice, and thus Mick and Linda gave chase, but a terrifying series of events ensued, as Janine and landlady Linda plummeted off a cliff and into the ocean.
Mick jumped in after them, rescuing Janine and their unborn baby, but he subsequently returned to the ocean to retrieve his beloved L, unaware that she’d already made it to safety.
Linda, realising what had transpired, called out for Mick, but he never returned, and thus the coast guard was summoned, with search and rescue teams soon looking everywhere for the missing landlord.
But there was no sign.

Linda, meanwhile, returned to the Vic, where she relapsed, taking a drink to calm her nerves after what she’d been through, as she informed a heartbroken Shirley what happened, struggling to say the words aloud.
Janine, however, interrupted them, returning to the pub, claiming to be the landlady and threatening to kick both grieving women out.
Shirley, however, responded by trying to kill Janine with her bare hands, and Linda pretty much gave her the ex-mother-in-law her blessing to do it.

Ollie (Harry Farr) appeared in the pub, asking for his dad to read him a bedtime story. Heartbroken Linda informed him that she’d be up soon, explaining that ‘daddy’ had to go away, which left Ollie upset.
‘Say goodnight to daddy’, he said, and Linda burst into tears, knowing she’d have to do exactly that.

Janine, meanwhile, got what she deserved, as Linda kicked her out of HER pub, while Ricky (Sid Owen) called the police, and Scarlett (Tabitha Byron) refused to change her story, meaning that Janine was taken away by officers of the law.
Justice.
Up on the Vic roof, Linda and Shirley discussed the heartbreaking events of the day, as they finally accepted that Mick is gone.
No, you’re crying.
