EastEnders has been must-see TV thus far this year, and that trend is very much set to continue next week, with a number of big developments on the cards for some show favourites.
Following on from her phone call with social services, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) calls a family meeting, summoning her nearest and dearest to tell them all about Lily’s (Lillia Turner) pregnancy.
Martin Fowler (James Bye), however, cannot be located, and things take a surprising turn when the police arrive at Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) home to interview him, which leads to him finding out the truth.
Enraged, Martin barges over to the Slater household and rages at Stacey, upset that he wasn’t notified sooner.
The bartender receives a blast from the past when an old acquaintance named Brett pops up in the Square, wanting a word with him. Brett also interviews for a PT job at the gym, but Zack is determined to warn Sharon off employing his former pal.
Things take a turn in subsequent scenes, as Brett confronts Zack and makes a huge revelation, which ultimately turns the latter’s life upside down.
Elsewhere, Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) invites the family for a meal, where Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), Ben (Max Bowden) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) brace themselves for a terrible update.
Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and Lola, however, take great delight in announcing their plans.
EastEnders airs these scenes w/c Monday January 9 on BBC One.
