EastEnders has launched a tense new trailer for its New Year episodes – and it reveals a big new moment in Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) war with DCI Keeble (Alison Newman), as well as hinting at another possible death.
The aftermath of Christmas is seeing the Carter family dealing with the grief of Mick’s (Danny Dyer) apparent death, but there could be more tragedy to come as the bells toll in the new year.
As the rest of the community welcome in another year that is sure to bring more disaster and devastation from them all, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) walks in to find a distressed Suki (Balvinder Sopal) cradling a lifeless Eve Unwin (Heather Peace).
A gas leak at the Slater household leaves both Eve and Stacey’s (Lacey Turner) daughter Lily (Lilia Turner) fighting for their lives.

The trailer ends on a solemn note, with Stacey looking worried at the hospital. Is she about to lose both her child and her best mate (and wife) to boot?
Meanwhile, as he battles to get Billy (Perry Fenwick) off the criminal charges that Keeble has over him, Phil reckons it’s all over.
Due to his plan with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), Phil seems to believe he has what he needs to destroy Keeble for good – and tells Billy as much.
But there is no relief to be had, as Keeble walks in and declares that they have a problem.
