A driver fleeing uniformed Secret Service officers allegedly struck several pedestrians and killed an elderly man near the White House.
The hit-and-run happened around 1.30pm on Wednesday at 17th Street and Constitution Avenue in Northwest Washington, DC, said Secret Service Uniformed Division spokesman Lt Paul Mayhair.
An officer attempted to stop a 2006 blue Honda Accord with expired registration, Mayhair told The Washington Post. The driver seemed to stop, but suddenly drove off, going through a red light and hitting pedestrians less than a block away.
