Drake hedging a $1million (£820,000) bet on Argentina winning the World Cup 2022 at full time has not paid off despite the nation beating France in the nail-biting final.
The international tournament ended on Sunday night in an extraordinarily close game, with both teams fighting it out for the crown in penalties after drawing 3-3.
Unfortunately for France, Argentina took the title after securing a 4-2 shootout victory with Gonzalo Montiel striking the decider.
Canadian rapper Drake, 36, revealed on Instagram on December 17 that he had backed Lionel Messi and Argentina to defeat France in the last match of the tournament.
In a video, the Hotline Bling singer was seen discussing World Cup bets with a friend with each of them sharing who they want to place their money on.
‘I’ll take Argentina, he’ll take France,’ Drake said. ‘We’ll make that happen, that’ll be a vibe.’
Unfortunately, though, it seems the artist will not be collecting a single penny as Argentina drew with France at full-time.
Uh oh.
Not everyone was thrilled with Drake supporting the country in the first place either as many were convinced they would be doomed by the ‘Drake Curse.’

The ‘Drake Curse’ of course dates back many years as the artist has repeatedly backed the wrong horse in a number of high-profile sporting events.
In 2019, Manchester City player Sergio Aguero missed a penalty in a Champions League quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur after being photographed with Drake.

Prior to that, the rapper joined Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge for a picture in a season that ended with the team’s race for the Premier League title ending miserably.
While Argentina and Messi ultimately beat the ‘Drake Curse’, Drake didn’t win anything.
