Donald Trump appears to have expressed concern for Kanye West following their meeting earlier this week, describing the musician as a ‘seriously troubled man’.
Gold Digger rapper West travelled to Mr Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida to ask the former US President to be his running mate when he himself runs for the White House in the 2024 presidential election.
However, it appears Mr Trump, 76, rejected West’s offer to join his bid for office and even advised the rapper to step down from his campaign.
Their meeting was made all the more controversial as West brought along with him far-right commentator Nick Fuentes, who even some Republicans have reportedly denounced.
Addressing their meeting of minds, Mr Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform: ‘So I help a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, Ye (Kanye West), who has been decimated in his business and virtually everything else, and who has always been good to me, by allowing his request for a meeting at Mar-a-Lago, alone, so that I can give him very much needed “advice”.’
Mr Trump continued: ‘He shows up with 3 people, two of which I didn’t know, the other a political person who I haven’t seen in years. I told him don’t run for office, a total waste of time, can’t win. Fake News went CRAZY!’

West, 45, first revealed his visit to Mar-A-Lago in a tweet on Tuesday, which read: ‘First time at Mar-a-Lago. Rain and traffic.
‘Can’t believe I kept President Trump waiting. And I had on jeans Yikes.’
He then added: ‘What you guys think his response was when I asked him to be my running mate in 2024?’
The Grammy-winning rapper later opened up about the trip and claimed Mr Trump was ‘most perturbed’ by his request for the former POTUS to be his Vice President.

‘I think that was lower on the list of things that caught him off guard. It was the fact that I walked in with intelligence,’ West said in a video posted on his recently-reinstated Twitter account.
West also claimed that Mr Trump was ‘really impressed’ with Fuentes, whose YouTube channel was permanently suspended in 2020 for violating the video platform’s hate speech policy.
The Jesus Walks rapper described Fuentes as a ‘loyalist’ as he went on to reference the January 6 Capitol riot in the US in 2021, asking: ‘Why, when you had the chance, did you not free the January 6-ers?
‘I came to him as someone who loves Trump and I said go and get Corey [Lewandowski] back, go and get these people that the media tried to cancel and told you to step away from.’

West went on to recall how Mr Trump spoke about the release of Alice Johnson from jail, who Kim Kardashian had previously pleaded with the then-President to grant clemency.
According to West, Mr Trump said that he ‘didn’t do it for Kim, but he did it for me’, before alleging that the former US President made a derogatory remark about West’s ex-wife.
‘I was thinking like, that’s the mother of my children,’ the Yeezy founder stated.
He added: ‘When Trump started basically screaming at me at the table telling me I was gonna lose, I mean, has that ever worked for anyone in history? I’m like, hold on Trump, you’re talking to Ye.’
The video then ended with a title card that simply read: ‘Ye24.’
Mr Trump later downplayed the nature of the meeting and wrote on Truth Social: ‘This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about.
‘We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left for the airport.’
