Daniel Brühl has been seen in full costume as Karl Lagerfeld during filming for new series Kaiser Karl.
The upcoming six-part French series, which is being produced by Gaumont and Jour Premier for Disney+, is set in 1970s Paris as the influential late fashion designer was starting to break into the scene.
All Quiet On The Western Front star Daniel is playing Lagerfeld – who will also be portrayed by Jared Leto in an upcoming biopic movie – in the show, and he was spotted on set in Rome, Italy on Thursday.
It’s expected the scene shot in Rome will represent Florence, Italy in the 1970s, and the scene sees Lagerfeld showing his drawings of models sat at the bar.
In a photo of him walking on set, Daniel is sporting black suit pants with a pale jacket and matching waistcoat.
He was wearing a smart dress shirt with a white collar, and completed the look with a stylish purple tie and pocket square.

His casting in the series was revealed by Variety earlier this year, and the outlet noted how the show will chronicle the designer’s rise through the world of high fashion.

Lagerfeld, who was 38 in 1972, was aspiring to become the most fashion French fashion designer in the world, while Yves Saint Laurent was at the top of the industry at the time.
As well as his professional journey – which saw him become head designer and creative director of Chanel, Fendi and later his own label – the series will explore the rivalry had had with Saint Laurent’s partner Pierre Berge, and Lagerfeld’s relationship with Jacques de Bascher.
Kaiser Karl will also portray the decadence, love affairs, friendships and and partying he indulged in.
