Trump impeachment: Republicans plans for a quick trial draws anger
Aljazeera says the US Senate Majority leader has proposed a condensed, two-day calendar for each side to give opening statements in President Trump’s impeachment trial.
The Republican leader outlined the process in a four-page resolution that will be voted on as one of the first orders of business when senators convene on Tuesday.
And votes on witnesses has been pushed back until later in the process rather than upfront as the Democrats wanted.
He has been looking for a speedy trial towards the acquittal of the charges against Trump. With Republicans holding the majority, the Senate leader is likely to be approved by senators in the president’s party.

Despite pictures of people walking around the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond with semi-automatic weapons strapped over their shoulders, the protest ended up being quite peaceful.
The pro-Second Amendment protest was a protest against new anti-gun measures proposed by Governor Ralf Northam.
‘Westworld’ actor Jeffery Wright was similarly bothered by the gun-wielding protesters. He tweeted that the protest was “gun circle jerk” and said it had a “Klan-like rally smell” to it. Despite the fact that plenty of images and videos showed minorities protesting for gun rights too.
