There is hope the Rafah crossing from Gaza to Egypt will open today – for the first time since Israel’s siege began.

It’s believed there are around 88 injured Palestinians and around 500 foreign nationals waiting by the border, and it is hoped they will be allowed to cross into Egypt.

Ambulances had entered Gaza from Egypt earlier in the morning and are said to be heading back towards the border.

Photos have emerged of a temporary field hospital set up in Egypt – near the border. The hospital is intended to treat injured people crossing from Gaza.

Elsewhere, Israel has confirmed that 11 soldiers were killed in ground fighting in Gaza on Tuesday, taking the number of Israeli military killed since 7 October to 326.

Israel is also striking Gaza from the skies having hit more than 11,000 targets since the war began.

Israel has been bombing Gaza since the 7 October Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 people with 239 people kidnapped and being held hostage in Hamas.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 8,500 people have been killed since Israel’s retaliatory bombing began.
