Cristiano Ronaldo may have played his final match for Manchester United after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, saying he has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag and feeling that he is being forced out of the club.
The headline-grabbing interview could spell the end for Ronaldo at Old Trafford, who may be sold in the January transfer window, or even have his contract cancelled so he is free to leave.
A number of clubs were linked with a move for the 37-year-old over the summer but no European sides actually made a move, with Ronaldo’s only viable option a switch to Saudi Arabia, which he didn’t fancy.
Whether a top European club will now be keen to bring in the veteran in January is yet to be seen, especially after his inflammatory comments about his current manager and Manchester United as a whole.
Betfair have installed his former club Sporting as favourites to sign Ronaldo before 3 February 2023 at 3/1, with Chelsea only marginally behind the Portuguese club in the odds at 4/1.
A move to America is next in line, with any Major League Soccer side available at 6/1, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami linked with the veteran in the past.
