Creed III reunites Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson on screen in the gritty boxing movie, but she’s revealed that the cast also learnt sign language to welcome another actor to the franchise.
The third Creed movie is the ninth overall in the Rocky franchise, and this time follows Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed (Michael) face off against an old friend-turned foe, Damian ‘Dame’ Anderson, played by Jonathan Majors, after he resurfaces following a lengthy prison sentence.
After attending the films European premiere in London earlier this week Tessa and Jonathan joined The One Show to speak about the movie.
During the chat Tessa, who plays Adonis’ wife Bianca Taylor, spoke about how the couple’s daughter, who was born in the last film, is now grown up.
Born deaf in the previous movie, Amara is played by Mila Davis-Kent in her first major acting role.
The nine-year-old actress is deaf herself too.
Speaking about working with the young talent, Tessa said Mila was a ‘dream’ to work with, and that the cast learnt sign language for the movie and to communicate with her too.

‘She is just remarkable, and I cannot wait for the world to meet her via this movie and also the kind of amazing representation that we just haven’t seen in film before,’ she said.
After Tessa shared that they learnt sign language, Jonathan jumped in and joked that he had ‘tried the best’ he could.
However, Tessa praised his efforts and said: ‘We learnt some things and you did pretty well.’

Sharing more about working with the young actress Tessa added she was ‘incredibly fearless’.
‘First of all she learnt how to box too and she took to it so remarkably well,’ she said.
‘Her whole family, by the way was with us on set, which was a gift.
‘These films are about family and having them there really contributed to the feeling.’
She added one particular scene stuck with her.
‘I remember her being sat next to me in one scene, and I don’t know if it is actually in the movie, but a camera is coming straight at her and she had to look straight down the barrel and it comes within an inch of her face, but I didn’t even feel her flinch,’ she recalled.
‘I couldn’t register any anxiety or anything, she just stared right down it.
