Izzy returns to our screens next week after three years of shielding (Picture: ITV)
Coronation Street star Cherylee Houston is making a long-awaited return to the Cobbles in her role as Izzy Armstrong.
Cherylee was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos, a rare connective tissue disorder, when she was 23. This meant that she faced an extended period of shielding from Covid.
The actress, who took on the role of Izzy in 2010, last appeared on the street in 2020, before lockdown restrictions were put into place.
Since then, she has made an appearance via Zoom in 2021, in a storyline which showed the difficulty faced by disabled people during the pandemic.
In scenes filmed at her home, Cherylee was joined by her real life husband, Toby Hadoke, who played her neighbour and carer, Fergus.

Cherylee praised the team at Coronation Street for being ‘really supportive’ about her return to work.
‘We did do some scenes from home, we talked about the possibility of that or me going back to a gentle start to ease me back in. They’ve just been really supportive.’ She told The Mirror.
Izzy is set to appear back on our screens once more next week, and the actress is really looking forward to her return.
‘It would be wonderful to come back with a bit of a bang. Although I might actually come back with a small fizzle while I get better!’
