Surprise new owners of the Rovers (Picture: ITV)
Coronation Street is not the same without the Rover’s Return, and we think we have waited long enough for the beloved boozer to re-open – as have the distinctly thirsty locals of the community.
Since Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) was forced to close the doors on the business, there has been a notable hole on the Street as the staple for over 60 years has is no more.
But there’s hope as new owners eye up the pub, meaning that the doors might fly open once more.
Having gained permission from Waterfords, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) shows Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) into the empty Rovers and suggests that rather than buying a flat in Redbank, they buy the pub instead.
Daisy’s gobsmacked and, given the tumultuous state of their relationship given her recent cheating, is it really the right time for this?

Jenny is thrilled with the news when a semi-reluctant Daisy makes the announcement, which means both of them can soon be behind the bar once more although the implication would be that Daisy would become Jenny’s boss!
We don’t know about you, but we reckon that might take a while for the former landlady to get used to.
Whoever ends up with the keys, 2023 will definitely end with the Rovers officially returning, with show producer Iain MacLeod telling Metro.co.uk: ‘We didn’t want it shut for too long because it’s like almost a character on its own right – closing it is felt almost like a death.

Daisy’s gobsmacked at Ryan’s proposal (Picture: ITV)
‘In fact, it reopens on New Year’s Eve, but the interesting thing about it is the circumstances of it becoming open again, are all tied up with Stephen’s legacy and somebody will do something that is at best, naughty, at worst, slightly criminal to get their hands on the keys to the pub and reopen it.
‘So, the pub’s open, but what disaster will befall the person that’s allowed that to happen because it’s all based on this misdeed that they’ve committed towards the end of the year.
