Ryan was back in Weatherfield (Pictures: ITV)
Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) was back in Coronation Street in Wednesday’s (July 26) edition of the ITV soap after spending time in Ireland with his mum Michelle (Kym Marsh).
The beloved character left the cobbles for some much needed time away after being attacked with acid a few months ago.
Prior to Ryan’s exit, we briefly saw him looking at pictures before his facial injuries on his social media.
We also saw him looking at his body in the mirror and being somewhat disappointed with his figure.

His body shape was at the forefront of his mind tonight as Ryan arrived back at Carla (Alison King) and Peter’s (Chris Gascoyne) flat. He explained that he’s having some fitness equipment delivered and has decided to focus on working out.
Carla was impressed with Ryan’s positive frame of mind, but when she suggested filming some motivational videos, Ryan quickly said that no one would want to see his face on their screens.
In his bedroom, after working out, Ryan checked the increase in his muscle size in the mirror.
Again, he didn’t seem completely satisified.
He then reached for his phone and called a friend, telling them that his next parcel should be delivered to his Weatherfield address, and that he’d like to continue using the same fake name as before.
Ryan is now in a ‘position of denial’ (Picture: ITV)
We didn’t see what the parcel was, but we already know that Ryan will develop an addiction to steroids during his attempt to boost his confidence levels.
‘I think this point is where we see the start of the extent of his denial, really’, Ryan Prescott explained.
‘It’s probably the best way to put it. It starts the journey of what he believes is his kind of restoration, his time where he’s getting back on his feet and becoming more confident, and starting to believe in himself more and come to terms with his facial scarring. When he comes back from Ireland he’s fully seated in that position of denial.

‘He’s already convinced himself that he’s getting back on his feet and this newfound interest in fitness is going to bring him out of his shell and give him the confidence he needs. It gives him something to focus on and takes his mind off all the pain he’s been through and the fact he looks so different.’
