Nina headed to the woods to try and find Roy (Pictures: ITV)
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) made his feelings towards Nina Lucas’ (Mollie Gallagher) Christmas present perfectly clear last week in Coronation Street – he hated it.
Alright, he didn’t say that exactly, but he might as well have done!
The gift was a mobile phone, something Roy has never had.
In a bid to get her uncle to step foot into the modern world, Nina attempted to explain to Roy that having a phone is hugely beneficial but sadly, try as she might, he was being incredibly stubborn.
So much so, Roy ended up giving the device to Sam (Jude Riordan).
Tonight, as the new year began, Roy headed off to the woods for a bat group meeting.
Brian (Peter Gunn), Nina and Asha (Tanisha Gorey) were planning on joining him, but they then discovered – through a message on their phone – that the meeting had been cancelled.
Of course, due to the fact they had no way of contacting Roy, the trio set off into the woods to try and find him.
As night fell, Nina was getting worried and when she spotted Roy’s flask in the river, her panic set in – she was convinced Roy had fallen, so she walked down the bank, but slipped and fell into the water herself.

Fortunately, after Brian saved her, Nina was fine, but that didn’t stop Roy feeling completely awful.
In the hospital, he told his niece that if he hadn’t been stubborn and accepted her phone gift, none of this would’ve happened.
Because Roy refused to have a mobile phone, Nina, Asha and Brian had no way of contacting him.
