Fern pays for her dastardly crimes as Bernie gets justice (Picture: Zenpix / MCPIX)
Fern Lindon (Gabrielle Glaister) will find out the hard way that she made a huge mistake when crossing Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove) in Coronation Street.
The schemer, as viewers know, rocked up on the cobbles several months ago, following a mix-up about a parcel collection.
Bernie was collecting Joseph’s new school uniform at the time when she was given a parcel for Fern by a shop assistant who had mistook her for the other woman.
Fern subsequently arrived at Bernie’s door demanding her parcel but both women were instantly struck by how alike they are, which led Fern to suggest that they get up to no good together.
Bernie was keen at first, but Fern soon double-crossed her, nicking an item of clothing from her counterpart’s home before wearing it during a jewellery heist, which led to Bernie being framed for the crime!
Horrified, Bernie has since made her mission to clear her name, but with Fern having done a runner, she has been impossible to track down.

Things, however, were looking up last week when Bernie encountered Howard – Fern’s ex-husband – while on her quest, and he has since agreed to help her find missing Fern to get her off the hook with the authorities.
Howard proves extremely useful and together, he and Bernie set a trap for Fern, who takes the bait.

Bernie is therefore able to prove her innocence and Fern pays for her crimes in what appear to be very dramatic scenes.
Actors Jane Hazelgrove and Gabrielle Glaister, who play Bernie and Fern respectively, were pictured filming the scenes in question on-location for the ITV soap.

Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell), Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) are all present during the showdown between Bernie and Fern, as is Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), who is pictured taking Fern away.
Justice will be served, it seems!
Gabrielle, who plays Fern, joined the cast of Corrie earlier this year, after co-star Jane Hazlegrove suggested the doppelgänger storyline, revealing that she and Gabrielle are often mistaken for one another in real life.

‘It was April last year when my agent phoned me about it,’ Gabrielle revealed to TV Times. ‘My initial response was “That’s silly!” I was concerned about people going “but you’re Debs!” because I was previously in Corrie.’
Gabrielle had previously played Debs Brownlow, sister of Rovers landlady Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch), in 2000.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
