This is going to take time (Pictures: ITV)
Following the planting of a bomb in the Speed Daal van, all eyes were on Max Turner (Paddy Bever) during tonight’s Coronation Street.
Because of Max’s involvement in Griff’s (Michael Condron) gang, he was questioned by the police, who wondered why the teen had failed to tell anyone about their extremist views, not to mention being in hospital after a bomb exploded in the boot of Griff’s car.
Heading home, David (Jack P Shepherd) was prepared to support his son, maintaining the view that he wasn’t completely in the wrong, as Griff had been brainwashing him.
During the day, Max was left on his own with Lauren (Cait Fitton), who lied to her friend and let Griff sneak into the Platt household.
The confrontation between Max and Griff was intense. Griff was angry and tried to manipulate Max into telling the police it was the other members of the gang at fault, so they could both walk free.
Things quickly descended into an argument, overheard by Daryan (Twana Omer), who told David that something was going on.
As David returned home, a fight ensued between him and Griff but fortunately, they were interrupted by Spider (Martin Hancock) and the police (called on by Alya), who arrested the racist and bundled him into a police car.

For David, he thought this moment represented an end to the matter and, in some respects, it did.
However, sitting down for dinner, David soon realised that de-radicalising Max is going to take an awful lot of work.
Max still believed a lot of what Griff had told him. He said to David that he can’t be stopped from ‘telling [his] truth’ and that people like him – a white man – are not given as many opportunities in 2023 compared to the years when, for example, Gail (Helen Worth) was growing up.
Now, David must attempt to get Max to see that his views are wrong and racist – but will he ever change?
Max still believes everything Griff has told him.
