Turns out the money Harvey gave Nick actually belongs to Damon (Pictures: ITV)
As well as attempting to reconnect with his son, Jacob (Jack James Ryan) in Coronation Street, Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) has another reason for being on the cobbles.
Money.
When it comes to Jacob, Damon’s meeting with him went as we all expected: terribly.
Friday’s edition of the ITV soap saw Damon pass through the cobbles and during that, he found Jacob in the market.
He approached his son and explained that he wanted to catch up, but the fear on Jacob’s face allowed us to learn that this relationship wasn’t going to be something he’d want to revisit.
He explained more about Damon to Amy (Elle Mulvaney) tonight, revealing that he had barely ever been in his life and whenever he would return, money and presents were Damon’s idea of trying to impress him.
After a very awkward lunch at the bistro, Jacob and Amy headed home.

Left on his own, Damon had a small chat with Nick (Ben Price) about ‘business’.
That evening, Damon returned and explained to Nick that he had previously given his brother – Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) – a load of money – which has now been invested in the restaurant.
Damon initially made it look as though he wouldn’t have anything to do with the bistro, but then told Nick he had been round the block a few times – so they may end up working together after all.
Now Damon has the knowledge Leanne (Jane Danson) doesn’t know where the money came from, could he use this to his advantage?
We’ve got the feeling Nick’s going to regret this.
