Audrey said goodbye to Stephen during Super Soap Week (Picture: ITV)
Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) was a busy lady in Monday’s (October 23) episode of Coronation Street as she set about organising Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) funeral.
Stephen died at the end of Super Soap Week when Peter (Chris Gascoyne) hit him with his car. While Audrey still sees Stephen as her beloved son, the businessman’s death came after he murdered three people, drugged Carla (Alison King), and attempted to steal all of his mum’s money,
Tonight, Audrey and Gail (Helen Worth) paid a visit to Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) to speak with George (Tony Maudsley) and Todd (Gareth Pierce).
The prospect of Stephen’s funeral obviously sparked a lively debate and came with many problems.

George, who is professional and doesn’t let his emotions get in the way, knew he had a job to do and would have to deal with whatever was thrown his way in the process which included comments from Tim (Joe Duttine), who said Shuttleworth’s reputation would be destroyed if people found out they organised the service.

The funeral director then made his way over to the Platt household to talk more about the arrangements.
Audrey then told George that in Stephen’s will, it detailed how he would like to be buried.

George calmly and sensitively explained to Audrey that if a man like Stephen is buried, it can encourage vandalism and the gravestone being destroyed, so a cremation would be better.
He also said that they would keep the funeral under wraps so other residents didn’t find out, but how will they react if gossip spreads before it takes place?
