Investigators have uncovered a ‘number of items’ related to the disappearance of Massachusetts mom Ana Walshe, police said on Tuesday.
Walshe, who works for a real estate company in Washington, DC, disappeared after leaving for a work emergency in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.
Although she was supposed to fly from Boston Logan International Airport to Washington, she never made it to her flight.
Her husband, Brian Walshe, reported her missing two days later. He was later arrested and charged with lying to investigators after police found additional evidence.
Today, investigators announced that they found more evidence after searching in two waste facilities in the Boston area.
‘Search activity conducted north of Boston yesterday resulted in a number of items being collected which will now be subject to processing and testing to determine if they are of evidentiary value to this investigation,’ the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office stated on Tuesday.
The District Attorney’s Office did not reveal exactly what was found in the landfill, but sources told CBS Boston the items included a hatchet, hacksaw, and trash bags full of blood.
They also reportedly found a rug scrubbed with cleaning supplies. Yesterday, prosecutors revealed that Brian had bought $450 worth of cleaning supplies after his wife’s disappearance.
The District Attorney also announced that the search of the Walshes’ Cohasset home should be finished tomorrow. A previous search of the home revealed a broken knife covered in blood.
Meanwhile, two unnamed law enforcement sources told CNN that an investigation into Brian Walshe’s internet history revealed searches for topics like ‘dismemberment’ and the phrase ‘how to dispose of a 115-pound woman’s body.’
Brian and Ana Walshe have three young children that live with them in Cohasset, an affluent suburb north of Boston. All three were placed in state custody by Child Protective Services after Brian’s arrest.
