The Guardian – ‘Apocalyptic’ conditions in Gaza blocking aid, warns UN official

A UN official has warned that “apocalyptic” conditions are stopping aid from entering Gaza, according to The Guardian.

Martin Griffiths has declared that the Israeli military campaign in southern Gaza is as devastating as in the north, resulting in “apocalyptic” conditions and rendering meaningful humanitarian operations impossible. Speaking on behalf of the international aid community, Griffiths stated that the ongoing offensive has severely hindered aid workers, leaving them with minimal options to assist the 2.3 million people in Gaza, except for urging an immediate end to the fighting.

Elsewhere, on nuclear power site Sellafield it says there is a worsening leak from a huge silo of radioactive waste that could pose a risk to the public.
