The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards released their nominations and Colin Farrell’s Banshees of Inisherin appeared set to take home the big prize.
Martin McDonagh’s film The Banshees Of Inisherin picked up several acting nods on Wednesday, including a chance to win the award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture – the SAG equivalent of best picture.
The film’s four main stars – Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan – all received nominations for their performances.
Colin was again named in the top acting category for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role and was joined by Bill Nighy, Adam Sandler, Brendan Fraser and Austin Butler for his portrayal of Elvis.
The Irish actor and America rising star Austin both walked away with trophies at the 80th Golden Globe awards on Tuesday – Colin for best actor in a musical or comedy film and Austin for best actor in a drama motion picture.
In the SAG awards’s parallel female category, Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh received nods for their performances in Tár and Everything Everywhere All at Once respectively.

Netflix’s smash hit Wednesday was also recognised in the awards with its titular character’s actress Jenna Ortega being nominated for best female actor in a comedy series.
HBO’s The White Lotus will also get a nod on the night for drama series ensemble and female actor in a drama series for Jennifer Coolidge’s performance as Tanya McQuoid.

Kerry was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for her onscreen portrayal of Colin’s character’s sister Siobhán, while Brendan and Barry will go head-to-head in the male category.
The Banshees Of Inisherin was joined in the best cast in a motion picture category by The Fabelmans, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie’s Babylon, Everything Everywhere All At Once and Women Talking.
The nominations for the 29th SAG awards took place on Wednesday on Instagram live and were read out by Emily In Paris star Ashley Park and Haley Lu Richardson, from hit HBO series The White Lotus.
Taking place on Sunday February 26, the award ceremony will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
