Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are both ‘so close’ to a return from injury, confirms Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, who suggests they could be in action next week.
The two summer signings are yet to make their debuts for the Blues as they have been blighted by injury over recent months.
Nkunku did appear in pre-season action but suffered a serious knee injury in a friendly which has sidelined him since August, while Lavia has been struggling with an ankle problem since arriving from Southampton.
However, the Chelsea faithful may get their first glimpse of the two men on the field in the near future, although Pochettino would not quite confirm when.
Asked if the pair are back next week, the Chelsea boss said: ‘We will see. The last step is always the most difficult thing.
‘Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are so close, but at the same time we had a small delay, but we hope that they can be involved soon.’

Neither have made it back for the trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Sunday, with Chelsea’s next run out coming at Stamford Bridge against Sheffield United on Saturday 16 December, followed by a League Cup quarter-final against Newcastle the following Tuesday.
Full-back Malo Gusto is also expected to be back from injury for those two outings.
