Wimbledon giant killer Christopher Eubanks ‘feels like an honorary Brit’ after eliminating the man who knocked out Andy Murray on Monday.
The unseeded American, ranked No.43, pulled off the biggest win of his career with a stunning five-set victory over Greek fifth-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas defeated British hero Murray in the second round in another five-set thriller but fell to Eubanks in the fourth round to spark jubilant scenes on Court 2.
Eubanks, who also beat British No.1 Cameron Norrie earlier in the tournament, is playing in the Wimbledon main draw for the first time but the 27-year-old is now through to the quarter-finals and will next play Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.
Asked if he felt like an honorary Brit after receiving such strong support in SW19, Eubanks said: ‘Yeah, I think so. That’s pretty fair to say.
‘The fans here have really, really been behind me. Even in my match against Cam, obviously I knew going into it… it was going to be a tough atmosphere.
‘The crowd, rightfully so, wanted Cam to win, backed Cam. I did feel like they were very fair.

‘I felt like when I had good moments, they applauded, and they enjoyed good-quality tennis. I think since then they’ve really, really gotten behind me this entire week.
‘I guess you could say, yeah, I do feel a little bit like an honorary Brit and I hope they come out in the quarter-finals and show me a little bit more support.’
Medvedev, meanwhile, wants his showdown with Eubanks to played away from Centre Court and is expecting a tough battle against the American.
