Chris Pratt learned the definition of ‘don’t try this at home’ the hard way after he was stung by a bee in his eye – while trying to copy something he’d seen on Instagram.
The Guardians of the Galaxy actor shared a video on his social media page, explaining that he had been impressed by beekeeper Erika Thompson’s clips, showing her getting up close and personal with the insects.
In one video, she could be seen saving a huge hive with no safety equipment, simply scooping the creatures to safety with her bare hands.
Clearly impressed, the 43-year-old thought he would try it out for himself, with slightly less positive results.
‘So I’ve been following this bee lady on Instagram,’ he began a video. ‘She’s so cool and brave and she goes in front of these hives of bees and says, “They’re very calm today. I’m going to remove the bee. I’m going to use my bare hands to sift through the bees and look for the queen.”
‘It’s built up this false sense of security in me, to whereas I said, “I think I can control bees too.”

‘So, I saw a beehive two days ago and I went towards it and the man standing next to me said, “Hey careful there’s bees,” and I said, “These bees look very calm.”’
‘I just stared at these bees and one of them come out and stung me in the eyeball,’ he added, removing his sunglasses to show his injured eye.

‘So, anyway, f**k that bee lady.’
Let this be a lesson for you all, don’t try those flashy Instagram videos at home.
Alongside the clip, Chris penned: ‘@texasbeeworks you inspire me! But for real tho… [sic].’
Erika slid into the replies, suggesting that the Hollywood icon should leave the bees to the professionals.
Well, she has a point…
‘Wait—so now you’re going to be a plumber and a beekeeper @prattprattpratt?!,’ she replied, referencing his upcoming stint in the Super Mario Bros movie.
‘If you leave saving the bees to me and other professionals, you can focus on saving the Princess, Mario.’

Others also found the clip hilarious, with his brother-in-law, Patrick Schwarzenegger, simply commenting: ‘Lmao.’
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 co-star Pom Klementieff wrote: ‘Noooooooo ouch!’
As Jason Kennedy added: ‘I’m not laughing, I’m not laughing, I’m not laughing… I’M LAUGHING.’
