Oops! Chris Moyles has made a teeny mistake and apologised to Dave Grohl (Picture Matt Crossick)
Chris Moyles has apologised to Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters after accidentally announcing their new album live on air.
The Radio X DJ, 48, who left the breakfast slot on Radio 1 in 2012, was playing Foo Fighters hit Walk, from 2011, when he dropped the clanger.
He said: ‘I love that song so much. Foo Fighters, Walk. They’ve got a new album coming out in March, Foo Fighters, which I’m very much looking forward to.’
However, it’s since become clear that Moyles committed a pretty mega faux pas by unofficially announcing an album that the public was unaware of.
While Moyles was still on air, the story quickly spread across music news websites and it got back to Moyles that listeners weren’t supposed to know the news.
He said: ‘I’ve caused a bit of a kerfuffle. I’m in a very uncomfortable cul-de-sac and I don’t really know what to do.’

Moyles continued: ‘I’m not going to say [there’s a new Foo Fighters album in March]. I can’t say anymore. Anyway, sorry Dave. I’m really sorry Dave.’
Moyles finished 6th in the latest series of ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity, leaving the jungle two days before winner Jill Scott was crowned Queen of the Jungle.
No official word has come through yet regarding Moyles’ accidental giveaway, no has there been any response from Grohl, 54, Foo Fighters, or their team.
Whether it’s March or further in the future, the next Foo Fighters album will be the band’s first since the death of late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Hawkins died suddenly in March last year at the age of 50 in Bogota, Colombia. Foo Fighters recently announced their first set of shows since Hawkins’ death.
Tributes poured in throughout the following weeks and, in September 2022, two huge benefit concerts were held in London and Los Angeles
The London show featured an appearance from Taylor Hawkins’ son, Shane, who joined Dave Grohl on stage to perform Foo Fighters song My Hero.

In Los Angeles, the line-up featured some major names from the London show, plus Jack Black, Pink, Miley Cyrus, members of Weezer, and Alanis Morissette.
