Chris Kamara had a laugh at his own expense after being unveiled on The Masked Singer on Sunday night.
The 65-year-old football pundit and presenter became the first celebrity to be unmasked on the new series of ITV1’s reality singing contest and was underneath the Ghost costume.
Taking to the stage, Chis performed Save the Last Dance for Me by The Drifters and managed to throw judges Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, and Jonathan Ross off scent over his identity by putting on a Scottish accent.
As a result, they were convinced that the likes of Love Island presenter Iain Sterling or Dr Alex George was under the guise.
Following his appearance on the show, Chris ripped into his fake accent and joked that his shiny new MBE would be taken off him.

‘They have just asked me for the MBE back 🙈 after that singing in a Scottish accent 🤣😂 🤣,’ he tweeted.
Chris was made an MBE for services to football, anti-racism and charity in the New Year’s Honours list, alongside Queen guitarist Brian May who received a knighthood, and actor Stephen Graham, who received an OBE.
It comes after he recently spoke out about his difficulties with the speech disorder apraxia.
After being booted out of The Masked Singer on Sunday, Chris said he kept his role in the show a secret to surprise his family, adding: ‘I can’t wait to see their reactions.
‘My grandkids, we’ll sit around together and they’ll have no idea. They love this show. They just sing ‘take it off’ and grandad’s going to turn around.’
Asked whether he has ever watched the show before, Chris revealed: ‘Yes it’s a fan favourite in our house. My grandkids love the characters and we love to play along.
‘I can’t say I’m particularly good with my guesses though.’
Next Saturday, the remaining characters – Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino and Rubbish – will be taking to the stage to sing in disguise and try to stump the panel and viewers.
