Chelsea World Cup star Hakim Ziyech has been told he ‘needs’ to join Premier League rivals Manchester United – because of Erik ten Hag.
Ziyech has largely underwhelmed at Stamford Bridge since his £33m move from Ajax in the summer of 2020.
The 29-year-old has scored 14 goals in 92 appearances for Chelsea and only started one Premier League game this term before the mid-season break for the World Cup.
Despite his struggles in west London, Ziyech has been one of Morocco’s most important players in Qatar, helping the north African side reach the quarter-finals, where they will face Portugal.
Given his lack of game-time at Chelsea, Ziyech is expected to leave Chelsea in January and has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A club AC Milan.
But former Morocco midfielder Mustafa El Haddaoui believes Ziyech should instead look to join Manchester United and reunite with his former Ajax boss Ten Hag.
El Haddaoui told Stats Perform and Corriere dello Sport: ‘Now we’re seeing Hakim’s potential, we can see what he’s capable of. He has a lot of offer.

‘He needs to leave Chelsea and go to Manchester United, because the former Ajax manager [Erik ten Hag] wanted him. He will bounce back, but he needs to leave Chelsea during the winter transfer market.’
The Red Devils want to sign a new winger next month and are considering a loan move for Ziyech’s Chelsea team-mate Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic is another Chelsea player who may be considering his future at Stamford Bridge, having started just three league games this season.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Brad Friedel has urged Pulisic to find a new club in January and says he has the potential to become the USA’s greatest ever player.
‘If Chelsea aren’t picking Christian Pulisic, then I think he should move elsewhere because he’s good enough to play somewhere,’ Friedel told Online Casino.
‘He’s staking a claim towards being the best US player of all time, although he’s got a way to go to get past Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey.
‘Those two were at the top for a long time. Just because you have a big price tag, doesn’t mean you’ve achieved what those guys have yet, so he has a way to go.

‘But he’s making a claim. He needs to keep scoring goals at international level, and then we’ll see at the end of his career.
‘It’s like debating between Messi and Ronaldo, when you’re debating Donovan and Dempsey, they’re different players. I always thought Claudio Reyna was up there too.
‘That would be my top three at the moment, but Weston McKennie could be in the conversation one day if he keeps proving.’
