Chelsea are ‘determined’ to sign France international Marcus Thuram this month.
The Blues have already made two additions to their squad with the arrivals of Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana and French defender Benoit Badiashile with a deal for Brazilan starlet Andrey Santos also confirmed.
While the club have hit a stumbling block in their attempts to sign Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, Chelsea are not slowing down in their attempts to strengthen.
According to Foot Mercato, the club are eager to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Thuram this month, with the 25-year-old in the final six months of his contract with the Bundesliga side.
Reports have suggested he could be available for as little as £10m with Manchester United also weighing up a move, according to reports in Germany.
While Thuram will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, Chelsea are eager to wrap up a deal this month, according to the report.

Thuram is currently second in the Bundesliga scoring charts and impressed off the bench for France in the World Cup final against Argentina.
Graham Potter’s side are the lowest scorers in the top 10 of the Premier League with their shortage of options up top highlighted in Thursday’s defeat through the middle.
Raheem Sterling, the club’s top scorer with six goals, was forced off inside five minutes with Potter’s preferred option through the middle in Kai Havertz, who has five this term, struggling to find a way through.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was brought off the bench following Sterling’s injury but was replaced himself after 68 minutes. Chelsea are also without Armando Broja, who is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Aubameyang, brought to the club by Thomas Tuchel in the summer, failed to inspire much hope as Thursday’s game at Stamford Bridge passing him by with former Blues striker Chris Sutton believing the former Arsenal captain may not be picked by Potter again.
‘I wonder whether Graham Potter is thinking, how can I play Aubameyang again in a Chelsea jersey after how woeful he was,’ Sutton told BBC.
‘I’m always wary to criticise players for lack of effort or poor body language but Aubameyang absolutely epitomised that – I thought he was woeful and hopeless and didn’t give anywhere near enough.
‘He looked disinterested and I suspect Graham Potter will be thinking, blimey, he is never going to play in a Chelsea jersey again under me.’
