Central Middlesex Hospital attack: Man charged over double stabbing
Matteo Bottarelli, 43, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after a stabbing incident at Central Middlesex Hospital in West London.
On Wednesday afternoon, two men in their 40s were assaulted at the hospital located at Park Royal.
The accused resides in Central Way, Park Royal, has also been charged with two counts of threatening violence with a bladed object in a public area.
He is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court at a later time.
Armed police arrived on the scene at 13:!8 BST, where they discovered the injured men who were reportedly attacked with a mattock, a type of pick-axe.
Although neither victim’s injuries are life-threatening, one of them may result in long-term consequences.
A third person who was allegedly targeted by the suspect did not sustain any injuries.
After receiving medical treatment, Bottarelli was placed under police custody.
Authorities say the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related.
