The Justice Department filed an appeal on Monday seeking to reinstate criminal charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran man previously wrongfully deported. A May ruling dismissed the charges as vindictive, a claim the Justice Department disputes, asserting multiple valid grounds for prosecution.
The Trump administration’s Justice Department is pursuing unredacted voter registration lists from nearly all US states, claiming the need for compliance with federal voting laws.
