The Guardian - ‘Catastrophic failures’ led to Plymouth shootings

Summary of the front page

The Guardian reports on calls for a rethink of the firearms licensing system after an inquest into the Plymouth shootings.

The inquest jury found “catastrophic” failings allowed the gunman, Jake Davison, to legally possess a shotgun that he used to kill five people in August 2021. Senior police officers, families of the victims and anti-gun campaigners are calling for a “radical reform” of the firearms licensing system, the paper says.

The front page leaves space for an image of US president Joe Biden and Ukraine’s president Zelensky.
