Casualty star Jason Durr has confirmed he will soon be leaving his role as nurse David Hide.
The actor, who made his arrival as the beloved character back in 2016, announced the news on his Twitter page.
He wrote: ‘After 6 yrs playing the wonderfully complex #NurseDavidHide @bbccasualty I’ve hung up my scrubs. I’ve forged firm friendships, learnt to pronounce Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty & had my squeamishness thoroughly challenged! Here’s to new adventures (with less blood & guts).’
Jason was recently part of a heartbreaking and powerful storyline that saw David attempt to come to terms with the loss of his son, Ollie (Harry Collett).
Ollie died a few months ago after taking part in a school shooting with his manipulative classmate, Rob.
In the aftermath, David tried to answer many of the questions he was left with about his son, desperate to work out why Ollie took part in the horrific ordeal that saw many students and teachers lose their lives.
At the time, Metro.co.uk spoke to Jason about the storyline and David’s quest for answers:
‘There is no point someone else giving you those answers if you haven’t learnt anything in that process’, he explained.
‘During this process, David is constantly asking himself questions. Can he cope? First and foremost. People can offer this and offer that, but David needs to do the work himself.’
Jason’s exit is also amid speculation George Rainsford, his co-star, will leave his role as Ethan Hardy very soon.
