Jodie Whyte (Anna Chell) was in huge danger in Saturday (May 20)’s Casualty episode after she was targeted by a man who spiked her drink and planned to rape her.
In distressing scenes Jodie started to feel ill in a bar after getting into a conversation with a man called Noah (James Arden) and sharing a drink with him while she waited for Rida (Sarah Seggari), who was finishing off her shift back in the ED. She staggered towards the toilets but Noah followed her, only to be thrown out by a bouncer.
Jodie tried to text Rida for help, and made her way back through the bar to the exit feeling disoriented and ill. Outside Noah grabbed her and bundled her into his car, where she managed to send her location to Rida, who arrived just after Jodie managed to open the car door and get out.
Rida brought her friend back to the ED and grabbed Faith (Kirsty Mitchell), and the two women tried to look after Jodie without anybody else knowing she was there.
Faith, of course, is dealing with her own recent experience of being raped and had just discovered that the police wouldn’t be proceeding with her case against the man who attacked her because there wasn’t enough evidence. When Jodie said she wanted to talk to the police about what Noah had done, Faith discouraged her, saying there was no way she’d be able to prove what had happened. Despite this, Jodie later bravely decided to go to the police anyway, with Rida’s support.
One of the main reasons why Jodie didn’t want anyone to know she was a patient in the ED was because of her father, Max Cristie (Nigel Harman), being the clinical lead. When Jodie first arrived to work in the ED we saw that she and Max have a difficult relationship and it’s one she was very keen to keep quiet.

Secrets always come out, though, and this one is starting to come out bit by bit. Jodie was forced to tell Rida about Max being her father when Rida said she was going to make a formal complaint about him because of his assumption that Jodie was drunk when he saw her in the ED.
‘Nobody else must know,’ she warned Rida. What she didn’t realise was that the previous week Ryan (Eddie-Joe Robinson) had overheard a conversation she’d been having with Max, and had drawn his own conclusions.
‘She’s shagging him,’ he told Cam (Barney Walsh). Ryan has been repeatedly frustrated by not getting to work on the more interesting cases and he’d finally found someone to blame rather than himself. ‘She’s the reason none of us can get a look in,’ he said. ‘She’s in there with the clinical lead and not even Donna (Jaye Jacobs) can see it. I’ve had it with both of them.’
Is he planning to expose Max and Jodie’s ‘romance’?
Elsewhere there was real romance in the air for Teddy (Milo Clarke) when he decided to ask Paige (Shalisha James-Davis) out. The silly pickle managed to ask another girl out first because he was so scared that Paige would turn him down, but after that bit of confusion was sorted out he and Paige both confirmed they like each other and went to have breakfast at the end of their shift.
Will Iain and Faith survive? (Picture: BBC)
Faith and Iain (Michael Stevenson), meanwhile, are heading for a trip to Paris. Faith initially said no when he suggested this, because she’d just had the awful news about her rape case.
Because everything is going so well with Iain, Faith dropped her supply of the drugs she’s been secretly taking to manage her anxiety down the toilet. Will she be able to cope with coming off the drugs so quickly? And if Iain finds out about her drug taking, can their relationship survive?
